Google Antitrust

After a three-year investigation into Google’s activities in India, a complaint has been lodged with the Competition Commission of India.

A number of Website owners in numerous niches have complained that the Search Engine unfairly exploits its position as a search results provider to promote Google’s own services over and above other competitors.

Of course this is not the first time Google has been accused of illegally promoting itself in this way. Similar “antitrust” complaints have been lodged in the US and Europe in recent times, and although cleared of such behaviour in the US, the European Competition Commissioner is still deliberating upon Google’s European activities, where a negative decision would likely to result in a multi-billion Euro penalty for the search behemoth.
